Job Description Summary

- Build the BD TCI sustaining engineering team through effective selection, organizational, and development of highly skilled engineers.
- Manage sustaining engineering projects and personnel including engineers and technicians. Projects include, but are not limited to, supporting Peripheral IV Catheter product lines, supply chain, and operations.
- Ensure compliance with BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through appropriate communication, training, and education of sound quality assurance principals.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Budgeting: Develop detailed budgets in accordance with project and department plans, and business objectives. Manage budget diligently and be accountable to perform to the budget.
- Technology transfer: Ensure efficient and effective transition from research to development to manufacturing in locations throughout the world
- Process effectiveness: Ensure appropriate processes are followed for effective and timely engagement of other parts of the company in project activities.
- Innovation: Develop and apply innovative approaches to ensure best outcomes in all aspects of the role. Create an environment in which innovation can flourish through empowerment, encouragement, and support.
- Associate development: Actively develop and mentor associates. Provide frequent feedback. Be accountable for their success. Continue to raise the bar on the group and help associates rise to expectations.
- Customer focus: Develop credibility for the BD-TCI sustaining engineering team by obtaining has advanced understanding of external and internal customer requirements, establishing and delivering to clear expectations.
- Accountability: Demonstrate strong and clear accountability for the group’s performance and delivery.
- R&D communication: Conduct and encourage frequent formal and informal communication within the group to ensure full engagement and efficient operation.

Job Description

Job Title:       Manager, PIVC R&D Portfolio Engineering

Reports To:  R&D Senior Manager / Associate Director, PIVC R&D Portfolio Engineering

General Function

  • Build the BD TCI sustaining engineering team through effective selection, organizational, and development of highly skilled engineers.
  • Manage sustaining engineering projects and personnel including engineers and technicians. Projects include, but are not limited to, supporting Peripheral IV Catheter product lines, supply chain, and operations.
  • Ensure compliance with BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through appropriate communication, training, and education of sound quality assurance principals.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures.

Organizational Management

  • Quality systems processes: Ensure implementation of quality systems processes including design controls and change control.
  • Project planning: Ensure quality and accuracy of integrated project plans encompassing all cross-functional activities.  Engage in detailed review of cross-functional plans and be accountable for their success.
  • Project management: Ensure comprehensive and effective project plans are developed and actively monitor progress against plans.  Monitor timely delivery of all project deliverables as specified in the plans.
  • Budgeting:  Develop detailed budgets in accordance with project and department plans, and business objectives.  Manage budget diligently and be accountable to perform to the budget.
  • Resourcing:  Align dedicated and shared resources cross-functionally to optimize and ensure success of sustaining engineering projects.
  • Technology transfer: Ensure efficient and effective transition from research to development to manufacturing in locations throughout the world
  • Process effectiveness: Ensure appropriate processes are followed for effective and timely engagement of other parts of the company in project activities.
