The VP, BDB Global Marketing & Commercial Excellence is responsible for global marketing, identifying and delivering on key strategic marketing objectives for the BD Biosciences Business including, but not limited to building the playbooks to drive growth, developing competitive plans to further penetrate new and existing markets, acting as a marketing lead for key new product initiatives, being as a liaison to regional marketing and meeting/exceeding global key driver goals within BDB. 

Essential / Key Job Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for driving marketing functional excellence across BD Biosciences business unit. This includes marketing communications and digital marketing across the BDB portfolio – including capital instruments, assays and software solutions for both RUO and IVD labeled products

  • Provides oversight for the e-Business channel for BD Biosciences bdbiosciences.com, including owning the KPIs and business targets, working closely with TGS, regions, and BD corporate stakeholders.

  • Responsible for building and managing the annual marketing budget for BD Biosciences global marketing function.

  • Leads the global downstream marketing team and work closely with platform and regional marketing to build relevant content, tools and campaigns for BDB products and services.

  • Provides strategic inputs to drive the business.  This includes globally assessing the competitive landscape, customer needs and technology trends.

  • Drives commercial excellence by supporting the platform teams to develop positioning and value propositions to drive growth of the business and leveraging best practices based on BD Way of Marketing to accelerate growth.

  • Drives collaboration with country/region marketers to seamlessly connect marketing and sales to deliver results that positively impact growth; improve rapid adoption of BDB’s products and solutions and expand customer utilization of existing products and solutions through development of application content and generation of evidence.

  • Develops strong commercialization plans that leverage customer insights, create effective pricing strategies, identify target customers and drive key messages to support commercial launch excellence of new products.

  • Defines and drives an integrated strategy to engage with customers and key thought leaders to identify trends in the market, unmet customer needs and potential new applications, workflows and solutions that could be brought into the innovation system for assessment and investment consideration, emphasizing feasibility and complementing the focus of the technology development element.

  • Works closely with regions to update and analyze data to identify trends.

  • Work closely with business development to identify and assess potential acquisition or investment targets. 

  • Manage market research activities to develop fact-based customer insights

  • Manage, coach and development of the Global Marketing Team

  • Member of the BD Biosciences Leadership Team and the CMO Marketing Leadership Team for BD.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years' experience in medical technology marketing.

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing / business or technical field; MBA preferred. 

  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing global marketing strategies that have resulted in significant revenue growth and market share expansion.

  • Strategic thinker with a strong focus on innovation, customer-centricity, and continuous improvement

  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines in an environment of competing priorities. Proven ability to work in high-paced environment and routinely work on multiple tasks with multiple people while effectively prioritizing.

  • Action oriented with demonstrated ability to drive results.

  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills related to interfacing.

  • Ability to travel up to 25% (domestic & international)

  • Role based in Milpitas (San Jose area) or San Diego, California (minimum 3 days a week in office)
