Job Description Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operations Specialist (MS) to join our dynamic team based in WinnershThis role will operate across the BD business with a specific focus on our Life Sciences segment. As we deploy more Managed Service Solutions into a growing market (both as a primary and secondary contractor), the main focus of the role is to support the growth of market share within NHS & Private Pathology Services via both acquisition and retention of customers.
You will be required to support, shape, and deploy BD’s strategy to deploy a Primary Supplier capability and enhance our capabilities as a Secondary Supplier working with established partners. The position is responsible for developing and delivering our field-based operating model and will work with our internal MS team defining the on-going strategy to develop best in class delivery of our services.
You will partner with Sales, Marketing and Support functions within the BD business units to create and deploy Managed Service Solutions. The role is suited to an individual with direct experience of diagnostics and providing contracts to the NHS and like organisations. Your working knowledge of such contracts and services will aid pre-sales, tendering, contracting, implementation, and lifecycle management of existing and new customers.
You are responsible for influencing the operating models for new contracts, as well as the delivery and subsequent management of such contracts. You will work together with the CLM (MS) Operations Lead UKI to develop and deploy robust processes to support the MS operating model.
You will operate in the following key areas:
• On-going development and delivery of our contracted Managed Service Solutions
• Deployment of robust contract governance and subsequent contract performance management
• Working in collaboration with our commercial functions to embed and deliver effective customer contract review
• Providing subject matter expertise for commercial opportunities and bids
• Supporting contract compliance and customer lifecycle management

Main responsibilities will include:
- Collaborate with the CLM (MS) Operations Lead UKI to establish and maintain a differentiated and optimized MS operating model.
- Drive contract performance management, ensuring seamless coordination with Contracts Specialists, Operational Specialists, and Regional Account Managers.
- Lead discussions with Regional Account Managers and customers to define optimal MS operating models for each contract.
- Develop strategic and operational relationships with Primary Service Providers and Sub-Contractors, fostering a collaborative partnership.
- Ensure timely and effective communication with customers and partners, delivering a unique and differentiated customer experience.
- Establish robust contract governance, supporting business reviews, performance reporting, and optimal service delivery.
- Analyze and report on contract performance, including internal and external KPIs, operational metrics, and financial reporting.
- Engage in pre-sales activities, providing subject matter expertise and supporting commercial teams with customer dialogue and submissions.
- Continuously innovate and improve the MS operational model, aligning with EMEA commercial excellence initiatives.
About you
- Proven experience in contract performance management (or similar commercial) roles, ideally gained in a healthcare setting (an understanding of the NHS procurement processes a plus)
- Experience in administering Managed Service contracts is preferable
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, ideally in a science based or economics/business studies related discipline
- Experience in successfully managing large groups of diverse internal and external stakeholders
- Knowledge of commercial terms and conditions of contract
- Knowledge of public procurement law
- Experience in engaging with and driving the topics of ESG, Sustainability and Social Value
- Proficiency in all key MS Office applications and Power BI, experience with TenderEyes/SharePoint desirable
