Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Director, Supply Chain Resilience & Customer Excellence, and dotted line reporting to the Associate Director, Responsible Sourcing, the Manager, Supplier ESG Due Diligence & Customer Excellence is responsible for understanding, evaluating, and responding to the evolving regulatory and compliance landscape that impacts BD's supply chain across various topics such as sustainability, human rights, risk, and resiliency. The Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess the applicability and impact of pending, new and existing regulations, develop and implement compliance strategies and programs, implement due diligence processes and support customer assurance and transparency initiatives. The Manager will also leverage BD's supply chain resilience and responsible sourcing efforts to create customer value propositions and best practice sharing with key strategic customers. This role will collaborate with suppliers, internal and external stakeholders as necessary to ensure the implementation of key actions and strategies.

About the role

Are you passionate about sustainability, responsible sourcing, and supply chain resilience? BD, a global leader in medical technology, is seeking a dynamic and skilled Manager, Supplier ESG Due Diligence & Customer Excellence to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead programs that address evolving regulatory landscapes, drive ESG compliance, and strengthen our customer value proposition.

Main responsibilities will include:

Responsible Sourcing:

• Lead ESG compliance programs and emissions reduction initiatives.
• Evaluate and implement regulatory compliance strategies across the supply chain.
• Expand compliance efforts beyond tier-1 suppliers, supporting our global ESG strategy.

Customer Transparency:

• Enhance customer value through transparency and resiliency initiatives.
• Manage the HIRC Resiliency Badge implementation and related standards compliance.
• Develop efficient processes to respond to customer inquiries, RFIs, audits, and reporting requests.

Collaboration & Governance:

• Partner with internal and external stakeholders to align compliance efforts with strategic priorities.
• Represent Procurement in cross-functional councils and committees, contributing to governance and strategy.

Data & Insights:

• Analyze and report on compliance risks, emissions reductions, and program progress to internal leadership.
• Maintain expertise in global regulations, customer requirements, and industry standards.

About you

Expertise in Sustainability and Social Responsibility

• Proven ability to develop and implement strategies aligned with global manufacturing business practices.
• Familiarity with best practices in reducing carbon footprints and promoting ethical operations.
• Demonstrated understanding of key global initiatives like the Science Based Targets initiative.

Understanding of Emissions and Reduction Strategies

• In-depth knowledge of Scope 1 (direct emissions), Scope 2 (indirect emissions from energy consumption), and Scope 3 (indirect emissions throughout the value chain).
• Experience in creating and managing reduction strategies for all emissions scopes.
• Ability to align emission reduction efforts with international standards and climate action goals.

Knowledge of Responsible Sourcing

• Familiarity with government regulations, emerging trends, and global standards for sustainable procurement.
• Strong connections with leading practitioners, third-party organizations, and industry experts.
• Experience ensuring compliance with directives like the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive.

Procurement and Supplier Management

• Working knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management, and risk assessment in regulated manufacturing environments.
• Expertise in category management, demand planning, and supplier performance optimization.
• Ability to integrate sustainability goals into procurement decisions.

Project and Program Management

• Proficiency in handling sustainability and social responsibility projects end-to-end.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills to align goals across departments and external partners.
• Competence in using project management tools and methods to ensure timely and effective outcomes.
