By aligning and simplifying our work, our Integrated Diagnostic Solutions (IDS) business unit aims to drive growth and innovation around everything from integrated specimen management to diagnostic solutions.

About the role

As a Diagnostic Solutions Expert, you will be pivotal in both pre-sales and after-sales stages. In the pre-sales stage, you’ll qualify Microbiology Lab customers by assessing their workflow and needs onsite, and providing product demonstrations.

Your goal is to identify key elements and metrics for adopting new equipment and improving processes, while capturing opportunities for BD Microbiology solutions, including Lab Automation. In the after-sales' stage, you’ll be the primary contact for an outstanding customer experience, offering application support and mentorship, regularly reviewing the impact of BD solutions in the lab, and collaborating with customers for continuous optimization.

This role requires strong social skills and a proactive attitude, as you’ll work closely with various stakeholders, including application specialists, informatics specialists, project managers, sales, and service representatives. You’ll understand and supervise customer needs, translating insights into joint actions with partners to deliver and maintain a seamless end-to-end solution.

The main office is in Drachten, and the region to cover is the southern part of the Netherlands.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Participate in territory planning with the Regional Account Managers
  • Qualify customers via onsite assessment events, to identify sales opportunities and to help build solid cases
  • Demonstrate uses and advantages of the products to customers and provide broad application support to the organization for pre-sales activities
  • Collaborate with the Lab Automation team during the implementation phase of Lab Automation projects, to ensure a smooth transition of ownership after launch
  • Serve as first contact for customers after go-live on workflow optimization, to provide direction and support on operation and maintenance of BD instruments, as well as to solve minor technical issues
  • Work closely with technical support team, sales and marketing to timely address customer concerns, resolve corrective action and customer follow up
  • Provide refresher customer training on a need basis, to sustain an effective use of BD instruments and maintain high customer happiness
  • Maintain appropriate records as required by the company

About you:

  • Bachelor in medical microbiology or science
  • Confirmed experience in sales or science
  • Experience in hospital setting, working with diagnostic instrumentation and related software programs (or strong internship program)
  • Experience on Lab Automation systems and services
  • Committed to provide an excellent service to customers and ultimately to patients
  • Training and mentoring capability skills
  • Comfortable with a Microbiology lab environment
  • Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma/change management in healthcare
  • Knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems
