Job Description
About the role
The Country General Manager (“CGM”) France provides leadership to the French organization (circa $400M in revenue/ approx. 450 associates) and develops BD’s business for sustainable and profitable revenue growth.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the effectiveness and alignment of the Go-To-Market organization to the healthcare systems, markets, sales channels and customers across BD businesses.
Additionally, you will create shared value through engagement and alignment around key health and social needs that BD can help to advance, setting-up external collaborations and partnerships as needed.
As a key member of the EMEA Leadership Team, you will represent the critical linkage point between BD's global capabilities and the needs of your country.
You will lead the positioning of BD as preferred partner to our key and strategic customers and national/regional healthcare policy makers, directly driving the Commercial Model development, including Key and Strategic Account Management, Inside Sales, Public Policy and Market Access, and supporting cross-Business Unit collaboration.
This also includes development of value offers and solutions for key customers, further embedding of Commercial Excellence and a unified selling process, including the adoption of our CRM system and execution of local marketing strategies.
Last but not least, you will closely collaborate with BD's Global Business Services, ensuring superior CEx through effective and compliant end-to-end processes, e.g. quote-to-cash, pricing and contract lifecycle management, credit collection, etc.
Main responsibilities will include:
Builds an extensive network of external partners. Has access to national healthcare authorities who supervise the industry and decide on reimbursement.
Establishes multilevel relationships with national/regional authorities and the senior leaders of BD’s Key Strategic customers.
Represents the company in industry associations and has a sensor function in the healthcare market to find opportunities
Creates external coalitions for pursuing pivotal initiatives, effectively aligning internal functions and relevant businesses for support and expertise.
Leads business activities for achievement of short- and long-term business objectives, driving sustainable growth and profitability. Monitors results and ensures corrective actions take place, if needed.
In collaboration with global or regional businesses:
Develops appropriate Go-To-Market strategies to ensure an effective market and channel resource deployment and coverage in line with the current and future needs of the target customers. Seeks alliances or leverage across business units and channels, ensuring effectiveness and efficiency, both on a 'vertical' basis serving the needs of each business unit, and on a 'horizontal' basis improving the overall effectiveness of the company.
Responsible for high-level negotiations in the country, maintains working relationship with key business partners to drive revenue growth.
Responsible for ensuring that BD's relationships and agreements with distributors, agents and other supply chain partners reflect the best industry practice and are fully in compliance with national, US and European laws and regulations.
Understands the importance of business processes, proactively drives and supports standardization and effectiveness of business processes in collaboration with regional functional leaders. Develops and supports standardization of appropriate back-office and tender support, enabling systems and processes to better service target customers, and drives commercial excellence in the most effective way.
Is accountable for the country P&L (Revenue, Standard GP, SSG&A) and for achieving relevant financial objectives (Cash Flow management).
Partners with regional/worldwide businesses to build a 3–5 year country strategy, working across all business units to create an integrated country plan, overcoming internal barriers. This includes the development of a country commercial plan including market development, customer centricity / commercial excellence and GTM objectives, plan and strategies.
Maintains and regularly updates the strategy, tracks and communicates progress.
Talent Development:
Leads the countries talent agenda by building the capabilities to deliver on the 3-5 year strategy in line with the company direction.
Identifies, coaches and develops future leaders and champions, creating opportunities for development and movement, actively ensuring a comprehensive diversity agenda resulting in a diverse and inclusive workforce.
Builds high performance teams, with a focus on exporting talent to other regions.
Champions initiatives to become an employer of choice, enabling attraction of talent.
Governance and Communication:
Responsible for ensuring that BD meets or exceeds all standards of legal and ethical compliance. Exhibits impeccable personal integrity and understands that BD's global reputation is dependent on the appropriate behavior and actions of every BD associate, everywhere in the world.
Ensures that the company's business policies, procedures and actions, both directly and through third party relationships, are fully in compliance with national and international laws and regulations.
About you
Education
University bachelor’s degree in business administration. MBA or equivalent business experience preferred.
Experience
Ten (10) years of increasingly responsible experience in Sales and Marketing, including relevant team management and development experience.
Validated experience in the medical devices and capital equipment markets, with extensive knowledge of the French healthcare environment, understanding mid-and-long-term trends being able to influence our markets.
Mastery of marketing, selling and new business development skills.

Preferred Knowledge and Experience
Previous working experience with general management and P&L responsibility, either in country or regional business leadership role.
Proven track record of business/commercial success in a healthcare environment.
Experience in organizational change and change management
Solid understanding across multiple functional areas, leading cross-sector initiatives.
