Main responsibilities will include:
- Engage with BU leadership to provide strategic advice, updates and recommendations regarding SP's IP portfolio and offensive/defensive patent activities.
- Maintain close relationships with R&D and project teams to identify patentable inventions and create and implement patent strategies.
- Provide guidance to external advisors on global patent filing and prosecution issues.
- Provide landscape analysis and related support for R&D programs.
- Provide technical advice in support of R&D programs and business development activities.
- Monitor third-party patent activity in areas of interest
- Assist with offensive and defensive patent challenges in global patent offices.
- Assist IP Counsel with IP litigation involving the BU.
- Train and advise employees on IP issues.
- Participate in projects with an impact on the IP team, the legal group and the commercial department as a whole.
About you
- Bachelor's degree or higher required, in engineering or science
- European Patent Attorney, or in the process of obtaining European Patent Attorney status with prior IP experience
- Experience of US and European Patent Office post-grant procedures
- Experience of global patent filing strategies
- Experience in the field of medical devices
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
