The Senior Network Engineer will be a hands-on role, requiring a superior level of technical network expertise.

As part of the team, you will be responsible for all networking and security aspects of a hybrid data center environment, which includes on-premise data centers and cloud infrastructure. The cloud architecture involves Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services. A successful team member will contribute to “Advancing the World of Healthcare” by effectively implementing and supporting hybrid infrastructure and security operations.

This role is being offered on a 12 month FTC basis.

Our vision for “STS” at BD

The STS Operations infrastructure team provides support for data center operations for both existing and new products at Becton Dickinson. As the primary infrastructure support for research and development operations, the team handles networking and firewall operations in a DevOps environment. They are proficient in terraform coding and assist other teams with architectural design.

Main responsibilities will include:

• Responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and auditing tasks associated with a hybrid data center Infrastructure.

• Responsible for the successful resolution of complex network support issues.

• Interface with internal teams to provide specific network related technical support.

• Participate in the delivery of complex projects related to business requirements.

• Drive internal and external firewall security appliances, infrastructure devices such as routers, switches, app gateways, and load balancers.

• Provide technical expertise with the evaluation of new supporting technologies, architectural designs, and utilise your knowledge of operational LAN and WAN solutions in a converged, global architecture.

• Lead and support architectural design for Azure and AWS connectivity.

About you:

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related technical field and/or equivalent combination of education and/or experience

• 3+ years working experience with enterprise level devices including configuration, management, and troubleshooting.

• Experience in monitoring and troubleshooting Enterprise business and large-scale LAN/WAN environments including routers, switches, firewalls, app gateways, and load balancers.

• Experience in supporting site to site VPNs and client VPNs.

• Strong understanding of change control methodologies and experience implementing and modifying change processes and procedures as necessary.

• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

• Excellent organisation skills including the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and changing environment.

Required Skills:

• Must be able to configure and troubleshoot ACL’s/Route maps/prefix lists, and objects.

• Must be able to implement F5 Load Balancer service and configure and troubleshoot VIPS/POOLS/NODES.

• Familiar with F5 Load Balancer troubleshooting tools such as LTM log file/TCP dump/iRule logging.

• Familiar with interpreting and writing basic to advanced F5 Load Balancer iRules.

• Experience installing/cabling network equipment within a data center.

• Palo Alto firewall experience is a strong plus.
