The Senior Manager Molding Manufacturing manages molding manufacturing and molding production operations to
drive superior performance against Sandy’s SQPDC goals.
Develops financial and operational objectives and applies expertise to achieve those objectives while ensuring operational plans are aligned with business objectives.
Sets production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, materials supply, staffing resources, and volume required to meet demand and to ensure maximum production quantity and quality.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will report directly to the Plant Manager and be a critical member of the Plant Leadership Team.

  • Manages the injection molding and extrusion departments which includes mold maintenance, machine maintenance and mold machine shop to drive superior performance against Sandy’s SQPDC goals.

  • Develops financial and operational objectives and applies expertise to achieve those objectives while ensuring operational plans are aligned with business objectives.

  • Sets production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, materials supply, staffing resources, and volume required to meet demand and to ensure maximum production quantity and quality.

  • Promote a Safety first, Quality always culture

  • Provide safe working environment to prevent employees from injury

  • Ensure ongoing safety and GMP training occurs at all levels of the organization

  • Ensure accident investigation procedures are followed and re-enforce safety audits

  • Institute policies to minimize environmental waste

  • Actively sponsor a ‘Zero Loss’ mindset through BD’s Production System and act as a designated team sponsor for one of the component teams

  • Plan and establish yearly department budget for all activities and controls within the department

  • Manager or coordinate the engineering functions to ensure reliability and up-time of equipment is at a maximum

  • Lead and conduct quarterly skip-level meetings, monthly safety meetings, weekly staff meetings to ensure alignment of operating plans to business strategy

  • Facilitate discussions with your team members, linking career paths, training, and development plans to individual needs and career interests.

  • Provide growth and development opportunities for employees by providing calibrated performance reviews, training, coaches, and succession planning

  • Ensure equipment and human resource needs are planned and executed in order to meet production volume requirements.

  • Work with platform teams to develop forecasts and develop responses to changes in budgeted volumes and dollars to ensure goals are met and variances are justified.

  • Support WW manufacturing personnel to ensure smooth implementation of all new products, processes, equipment changes, as well as transfers to/from other BD locations

Minimum Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Graduate Degree Preferred

  • Field of Study: Mechanical, Plastics or Manufacturing Engineering, or other related engineering discipline

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of broad experience in production, project engineering, or technical manufacturing. Preferably in a 24/7 manufacturing environment of Medical Devices

  • Minimum 3 years as a people leader or supervisory capacity. Preferably in a matrixed organization that required influencing without direct authority

  • Mold process development and validation in a medical device setting

  • Processing certification preferred

  • Proven capability to perform quality control & statistical analysis required

  • Project leadership and budgetary experience preferred

  • Six Sigma certification preferred

Competencies/Skills:

  • End to End Thinking- Proven capacity to understand and manage the entire process associated with supply chain starting from producing the materials from supplier and ending at providing the final product to the customers.

  • Customer Centric- Ability to understand what customers need as well to see the world from the customer’s point of view.

  • Communication- Skilled at giving and receiving communication clearly, precisely, and in a compelling way to groups as well as individuals at all levels, including senior leaders, colleagues, and subordinates.

  • Development & Leadership Focus- Proficiency guiding, empowering and motivating oneself and a group of people to act towards achieving a common goal.

  • Agility- Ability to renew oneself, adapt, change quickly, and succeed in a rapidly changing, ambiguous environment.

  • Change Management- Aptitude and discipline that guides how an individual prepares, equips and supports oneself and others to successfully adopt change in order to drive organizational success and outcomes.
