Job OverviewThe Technician collaborates with the Maintenance Supervisor to set up, operate, fix, and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on advanced automated manufacturing equipment. This role ensures smooth production by maintaining quality standards, minimizing downtime, and reducing waste. Responsibilities include mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical repairs, adjustments, inspections, and monitoring of production and facility equipment. Strong problem-solving skills are needed to diagnose and fix complex issues, along with teamwork and a positive attitude. The technician also provides mentorship to Machine Operators and team members on basic fixing while contributing to a collaborative work environment.

Job Responsibilities
Performs routine set up, operation, minor and major routine maintenance, preventative maintenance (PM) and fixing of highly complex/automated manufacturing equipment. Controls and adjusts machine settings.
Responsibilities include production, quality, downtime and waste levels of machine operation. Perform mechanical, pneumatic and electrical maintenance (including preventive) repairs, adjustments, inspection and monitoring of production and/or facilities related equipment and machinery.
This role is expected to manage highly complex activities in both mechanical and controls activities.
Uses judgment to plan, perform, make decisions, fix and problem solve in performance of all maintenance tasks.
Prioritizes daily work assignments to meet production needs and department goals.
Responsible for preventive maintenance scheduling, completion of work orders and tasks as assigned.
Supports installation and removal of equipment, and performance of required corrective maintenance.
Consistent presence in production departments. Monitors the production lines and proactively evaluates equipment performance for repairs and continuous improvement.
Must be highly efficient and demonstrate mechanical skills to complete changeover of equipment and some operator level preventive maintenance.
Leads root-cause analysis activities for process or product exceptions.
Checks work using prescribed gauges, jig and fixtures to measure close tolerances.
Ensures accurate documentation of all relevant quality, safety and maintenance documents.
To be done in conjunction with Engineering, Quality and Production supervision:
Organizes, completes, and directs improvement projects to **improve** equipment utilization.
Identifies, fixes, and resolves complex issues associated with the machine performance and/or product quality.
Advises on proper content of PM task list and frequency of execution.
Assists with the installation, debug, and start-up of all new or modified production equipment.
Works with minimum supervision.
Provides leadership in a team environment. Coaches and guides Machine Operators andfellow associates on basic troubleshooting.
Works with external contractors and vendor as needed
Demonstrates the ability to follow established procedures according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
Must follow all BD housekeeping policies and procedures
Must follow all BD safety policies and procedures
Must be able to work overtime as required to meet BD business requirements
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED with at least 4–6 years of relevant experience.
Relevant fields include Electrical/Electronics Technician, Electromechanical Technician, Mechanical Engineering Technician, Industrial Programmer, Electrician, Machine Builder/Repairer, Machinist, Refrigeration Mechanic, and Welding Repairer.
Strong time management, communication, and teamwork skills.
Proficiency in mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical troubleshooting and repair.
Ability to read and interpret electrical/pneumatic schematics, technical manuals, blueprints, and equipment specifications.
Experience with trades mathematics, calibration techniques, and precision measuring instruments.
Proficient in using PCs, including MS Excel and MS Word.
Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, and pneumatics proficiency.
Familiarity with multimeters, sensor technology, basic plumbing, power transmission (gearboxes, motors, belts, chain drives), and basic machining.
Ability to fix electrical circuits, including low-level signals up to 480 VAC.
Troubleshooting experience with industrial control systems (instrumentation, ladder logic, relay logic, VFDs, servo motors).
Knowledge of PLC operations, robotics, and vision systems.
Experience with mechanical design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
Familiarity with SAP maintenance modules or similar computerized systems.
Basic skills in milling, lathe work, welding, and bearing press operations.
