Job Summary:
The position will be responsible for providing technical expertise to support production of quality medical devices through implementation of appropriate inspection methods/equipment. This individual will also provide engineering services including troubleshooting equipment, writing specifications and protocols, and reviewing product design in relation to manufacturing processes.  The position will participate in multifunctional teams to address complex issues and projects as assigned by management.  The position reports directly to the Manager of Operational Excellence and Leadership Development.

Responsibilities:

• Assist production personnel during process changes and new product introductions.

• Participate in process control activities such as observation studies, statistical analysis, etc., to assess impact on device performance and patient safety.

• Implement quality systems training for all levels of employees (e.g. documentation practices, GMP, SOP’s, CAPA system).

• Develop and maintain written procedures and work instructions.

• Perform regular audits to ensure compliance with established standards.

• Provide technical assistance to other departments and off-site locations regarding inspection methodologies.

• Actively promote teamwork within the department and between other departments.

• Promote awareness among all levels of employees to encourage active participation in quality improvement efforts.

• Maintain records required for FDA compliance.

• Work with regulatory representatives during facility audits or inspections.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferred.

• Knowledge of cGMP, ISO requirements, FDA regulations, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and geometric tolerance drawings.

• Experience with statistical software packages such as Microsoft Excel.

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Good interpersonal skills.

• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

• Problem solving skills.

• Computer literacy.

• Technical knowledge of inspection equipment used in manufacturing processes.

Work Environment:

• BD is a smoke-free campus.  Smoking and the use of electronic smoking devices, marijuana, or tobacco products are not allowed on BD property, grounds or in the parking areas.  We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to this policy

• False eyelashes, press-on fingernails, and Jewelry is not allowed on the production floor including dermals.  Any associate wearing dermals will be required to cover them while working on the production floor. 

• Shoes are required to be Steel Toe and non-slip for all associates while on the production floor for safety purposes.
